Have you ever had one of those days where you feel like not getting out of bed, and not getting dressed. Many College students fall into this cycle. As a Student at a small Christian College (or a small Private College where they take all the money from you, and still want you to go on these huge out of the country mission trips) money is tight, and I don't mean as a fat man in a little coat. When those days come around what do you do? Lay in bed until the pain goes away?
If I don't go to class listening to my father tell me how much of a let down I am to the family and how much shame I bring to everyone. 20 year of the guilt tripping gets old and doesn't seem to work any more. I don't think God called me to be at this school, there is no real ministry here, I'm so happy that they care about others and want to reach out to other country, but what about the country that they are living in? Don't they deserve the same kind of message? What about those homeless people you see walking around, asking for anything that will help. What about those children that wake up in a broken home, and the only way they know out is to kill themselves. Why is it the suicide rate increasing every day in America?
Go to the country that you want to preach in and help them, but remember there is a lost teenager living next door to you. There is a face that you might see every day disappear!
Stop giving me a hard time about not traveling to other countries and boasting about what you did there! In the United States there are so many different cultures, so many different nations represented, walking down the street is a culture shock to most. When you open your eyes and see that you are the only person living and breathing then maybe you will see others living among us!
Is that why the United States send people to other countries? We don't see that we are the only people living, we think of ourselves as on nation made up of a million people? Its time to open our eyes! Its eyes to open our eyes to the fact that there are people living other then you!
Here at my college everyone is in this ME ME ME ME, all about me mind set, and really they are wrong! Christ never once thought that dying on the cross was all about him, I don't care who you are, but as human beings we are the ones who hung him because of our selfish ways and the way we think. I'm not throwing around that I'm sinless, because I'm not. I'm just as at fault as this as the next!!!
What do we do about this? Give money to the church? Go out and feed some homeless person? Or why don't we be aware of this and teach others that this mind set of "me me me " is wrong!
